On September 24, 2026, the Church will officially beatify Venerable Fulton J. Sheen in St. Louis — a historic moment long awaited by Catholics around the world.

More than a pilgrimage, this is a spiritual journey through the places that shaped Sheen’s life, mission, and sanctity.

Over seven unforgettable days, pilgrims will encounter Daily Mass, Holy Hours, powerful formation, and the rich spiritual traditions that deeply influenced Sheen’s vision for renewing the Church.

Led by Dr. Peter Howard, the foremost scholar of Fulton Sheen today, this pilgrimage is an invitation to deepen your faith, rediscover Sheen’s prophetic message, and prepare your heart for this extraordinary moment in Church history.

DAY 1 · SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

Arrival in Peoria

Arrive in Peoria and check in to the Marriott Pere Marquette by 4:00 PM. Welcome Dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by the Opening Conference with Dr. Peter Howard at 6:30 PM — orientation and pilgrimage framing. Pilgrim swag bags distributed: Holy Face Devotional, pilgrimage journal, Movement prayer cards. Rosary at 7:30 PM. Optional airport transport available.

DAY 2 · SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

Sheen's Priestly Anniversary

Celebrates both lungs of Sheen’s priesthood — West and East — Roman and Byzantine. Beginning where he was ordained and ending the day in the rite he embraced to unite himself to the east. This is a unique experience nobody else else wil be offering. Fr. Thomas Loya and his community will provide hospitality for us at St. John the Baptist parish in Bradford, IL. Fr. Loya will give a talk, and we will pray vespers together.

DAY 3 · MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

Peoria Immersion

Museum and Cathedral tour at 9:00 AM with private prayer and Holy Hour at the tomb of Fulton Sheen. Mass at Sacred Heart at 12:05 PM. Lunch on your own, then afternoon excursion to El Paso, Illinois — Sheen’s birthplace. Evening dinner at the hotel followed by a spiritual conference with Dr. Howard.

THE HOLY HOUR

A guided Holy Hour each day before the Blessed Sacrament. The single practice Sheen said made him a saint.

OUR LADY

The Rosary on the road, Marian shrines along the way, and the Beatification Mass on her Feast of Mercy.

If You Need to Cancel: All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to the Fulton Sheen Institute. The date of receipt is the effective cancellation date.

IDENTIFICATION

Government-issued photo ID required at hotels. REAL ID or passport recommended.

CLIMATE

Late September: mild to warm days (65–80°F), cooler evenings. Pack layers.

DRESS CODE

Modest Mass attire for sacred sites. Comfortable walking shoes — we walk daily.

MOBILITY

Some walking on uneven ground at shrines. Notify us in advance of any needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a passport?

No — this is a domestic US pilgrimage. A valid government photo ID is sufficient.

Are flights included?

No. This is a land-only package. Pilgrims arrange travel to (Sept 19) and from St. Louis (Sept 25). Recommended airports: PIA and STL. Canterbury Pilgrimages, our tour operator, can help you book flights and arrange transport to the starting location — just ask.

When should I arrive and depart?

Arrive in Peoria by 4:00 PM on Sept 19 for hotel check-in. Depart from St. Louis the morning of Sept 25.

Which hotels will we use?

Marriott Pere Marquette in downtown Peoria (walking distance to the Fulton Sheen Foundation) and the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac in St. Louis.

Is the Beatification Mass ticket included?

Yes. Reserved pilgrim seating at The Dome at America’s Center on Sept 24.

Is single occupancy available?

Yes, for an additional supplement. Single rooms are limited and assigned first-come, first-served.

Can I attend only the Conference?

The America’s Saint Conference is included for all pilgrims. If standalone tickets become available, registered pilgrims will be notified first.

What if I have dietary or mobility needs?

Please note them on your registration form. We accommodate where possible.

The Fulton Sheen Institute and its agents act only as agents for the transportation companies, hotels, and other suppliers of services. They assume no liability or responsibility for injuries, loss of property, delays, schedule changes, incidental damages, or any irregular circumstance arising from default or omission by any third-party provider. Carriers are not responsible for any act, omission, or event occurring while passengers are not aboard their conveyance.

All such losses or expenses are borne by the passenger, as tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated. The Institute reserves the right to substitute hotels of similar quality and to modify the itinerary as necessary. Prices and itineraries are subject to change. The Institute reserves the right to cancel any pilgrimage prior to departure; in such case, payments will be refunded in full.
